Our Live-In Care is a cost-effective plan that provides constant home care for loved ones.
Caring Companions offers both live-in and 24-hour care services to provide companionship and support. No matter what situation occurs, you’ll have a dedicated caregiver in your home to look after you and help with any additional household tasks every day.
When organizing around-the-clock care, you have the option of choosing either 24-hour home care or live-in care. Both services are great alternatives to assisted living as they allow clients to receive 24/7 care from caregivers while allowing them to stay in the comfort of their own home.
But how do you know which is the best option for you?
Live-In Care VS. 24-Hour Care
A 24-hour caregiver must be awake all night while a live-in caregiver works during the day and sleeps at night. Thus, live-in care costs less then 24-hour care. Live-in care is charged on a per-day flat rate basis but if a caregiver is needed in the middle of the night, then the caregiver is paid in 15 minutes increments at the normal hourly rate.
While live-in caregivers require about 8 hours of sleep at night in a private bedroom, they are always available to help a senior for a reasonable amount of time if the need arises at night. This means a live-in caregiver will be available to help your loved one use the restroom or get a glass of water, and as mentioned, if there is ever an emergency at night, in-home care will be able to provide immediate assistance.
Because the caregiver is live-in, they are there at night for your elderly relative's comfort and reassurance or in case of emergency. This also gives great peace of mind to your family, knowing your relative is not alone at night.
This means that the care is consistent, reliable, dependable and person-centered for your relative on an ongoing basis. The carer is able to develop a relationship of trust and support for your relative over time.
Because you are providing the caregiver with accommodation and food as part of the employment agreement, the caregiver is very happy with a reasonable salary and are satisfied in general with their working conditions.
