Caring Companions Provides Quality Housekeeping Services

In survey after survey, over 90% of seniors say they want to remain at home as they age. However, many seniors find they have increasing difficulty performing basic household chores. If your senior loved one needs help maintaining the household, Caring Companions’ Housekeeping services can provide a home environment that is comfortable, clean, safe, and healthy.

Help with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)

Caring Companions is not a dedicated cleaning service, but our housekeeping services do include:

✔ Laundry

✔ Bed making and linen changes

✔ Dusting, vacuuming, and floor care (sweeping/mopping)

✔ Cleaning bathrooms and kitchen

✔ Taking out the trash

✔ Watering plants

✔ Help with organizational projects

✔ Pet care

Housekeeping is part of the larger category of tasks called “Instrumental Activities of Daily Living,” (IADLs). IADLs are the complex skills needed to manage daily life, which allow us to live independently. In addition to the housekeeping tasks listed above, Caring Companions provides help with the following IADLs:

✔ Transportation (driving, or navigating public transit)

✔ Errands and shopping

✔ Preparing meals

✔ Using the telephone, computer, television, and other devices

IADLs are distinguished from ADLs (Activities of Daily Living).

ADLs are personal care or self-care tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and walking, and are learned much earlier in life than IADLs. At Caring Companions, you can find services related to ADLs in the category of Personal Care Services.

Additional Benefits of Housekeeping Services

Our caregivers don’t just provide essential support—they build meaningful relationships with clients and act as an extra layer of protection by monitoring changes in their health.

Observation & Reporting: Caregivers keep an eye on physical and cognitive changes, ensuring families and supervisors are informed of any concerns.

Early Intervention: If a caregiver notices a change in mobility, mood, or health, we take immediate action—adjusting the care plan and recommending medical attention if necessary.

Enhanced Peace of Mind: Knowing that a trained professional is providing consistent care helps families feel reassured that their loved one is safe and well cared for.

How do we establish Housekeeping services?

At Caring Companions, we start by listening.

We want to know the companionship care concerns you have about your family member. Four signs that your loved one needs housekeeping services:

1. Difficulty Keeping Up with Laundry and Bed Linens

2. Expired food in the fridge, dirty dishes piling up, or an unkempt kitchen

3. Chores Are Taking Too Much Energy

4. If you notice piles of unopened mail, overflowing trash, or dust and dirt accumulating

Perhaps you simply are concerned that your loved one may not be taking their medications correctly, or you wish to have a steady point of contact for the peace of mind of knowing your family member’s status on a regular basis.

How Do We Start Housekeeping Services?

We will come to your home for a comprehensive in-home assessment to help choose which Housekeeping services are appropriate for your family. Every client and family is different and has their own story to tell about what is important and what their needs are.

Based on the conversation we have with you, together with our own observations of the home environment, we will develop a detailed and personalized care plan tailor-made for you and your family. Because household tasks for many families can seem endless, your family and our client care supervisor will decide on the number of hours per week our caregiver should spend on Housekeeping services. When we write the care plan, the Housekeeping services section will detail the tasks our caregiver will accomplish during each shift.

✔ Should the floors be mopped every visit?

✔ How do you like your laundry done?

✔ Are there special instructions for taking care of the kitchen or any particular items around the house?

We will then assign a wonderful caregiver matched to the needs of your loved one and start service.
